George A. Meeks
BURLINGTON — Mr. George A. Meeks, 68, of 1048 Boone Road, Burlington died at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at 8:45 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband for 23 years to Dianne Cantrell Meeks, who survives and the son of Morris Meeks and Lucille Smith Meeks, both deceased. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum.
In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include four daughters, Lisa Cobb Warren and John Michael of Burlington, Jennifer Cobb Gwynn and John L. of Yanceyville, Jami Cobb and Tim Oakley of Mebane, and Kristie M. Tejedra and Isidro of Elon; a son, G. Shane Meeks of Durham; two sisters, Jeanette Conklin and Richard of Burlington and Barbara Apple and Richard of Haw River; a brother, Bill Meeks and Jean of Elon; seven grandchildren, Samantha Hannah, Jonathan Gwynn, Ali Tejedra, Chandon Warren, Lauren Tejedra, Jenna Gwynn and Jackson Tejedra; and his father-in-law, Charlie Cantrell.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Justice and Midge Poole; and two brothers, Tommy Meeks and Chris Meeks.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. by Pastor Darrell Massey.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
