    YANCEYVILLE — Willard David Rudd, 79, of 3146 Marshall Graves Road, died on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at his home after brief illness.
    He was born in Alamance County to the late George David and Nettie Jane Simmons Rudd and was the widower of Billie Glasgow Rudd. He attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industries Transportation Division. He was a U.S. Army veteran in the 92nd Airborne serving in the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a Mason and member of Kilwinning Lodge #64 A.F. & A.M. in Wadesboro, N.C.
    Mr. Rudd is survived by a daughter, Lisa Rudd of the home; two sons, Willard “David” Rudd Jr. of the home and Gregory “Scott” Rudd and his wife Penny, of Yanceyville; and a sister-in-law, Marion Glasgow of Franklinville, N.C.
    He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Edna Aldridge, Eva Walker and Mae Rudd; and two brothers, Isaac “Ike” Rudd and Earl Rudd.
    The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church by Elder David Underwood and the Rev. Marvin Simpson. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday evening at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the home.
