Mrs Sarah Agnes Coble Fonville, 85, wife of the late Rev John W Fonville, died this morning at 2:40 o'clock in a local hospital following one day of critical illness.

She made her home on Route 5, Burlington.

Mrs Fonville was a native of Alamance County, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Austin Coble. She was for many years a teacher in the early schools in this city, having taught for some time in the old Union Church School.

Her husband, the late Rev Fonville, was a Christian Church minister and farmer in the Long's Chapel community of this county. He was one of the founders of Longs Chapel Christian Church.

Mrs Fonville was a member of the church which her husband helped establish.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs Barnie P Jones of Burlington; five sons, Fred W Fonville of Ft Worth, Texas, John C Fonville of Stanley, William J (Bill) Fonville of Route 5, Burlington, Walter O Fonville of Burlington; one brother, R A Coble of Burlington; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of her son from Texas. The funeral will be conducted by Rev W M Loy, pastor of Long's Chapel Christian Church, assisted by Rev Guy H Veazey, former pastor of the church.

The body will remain at Lowe Funeral Home tonight and will be removed to the home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
