Mrs. Frances Simmons Gilliam, 90, formerly of the Union Ridge Community, died Friday, February 9, 2018.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington.

Mrs. Frances Simmons Gilliam, 90, of Burlington, died on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Coble Creek Healthcare Center at Twin Lakes Community.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Rudy Lee “R.L.” Gilliam, Jr., and the daughter of Elisha Simmons and Martha Rice Simmons, both deceased. She was a homemaker and was a member of Union Ridge Church. At Union Ridge, she was a member of the Ella Fleming Sunday School Class, the Golden Agers, and was a former nursery worker and vacation bible school volunteer. Mrs. Gilliam was also a member of the Alamance County Extension Homemakers.
Survivors include her three children, Susan G. Burge (Steve), Cathy G. Bullard (Tommy) and Rev. Kevin Gilliam (Kathy); six grandchildren, Perry Bullard (Catherine), Charles Bullard, Stephanie Hollowell (Dr. Robert), Leeanne Walker (Dr. David), Kimberly Guley (Kevin), and Barbara Ann Sexton (Jamie); nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Grace Shambley.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters and 11 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Union Ridge Church with Rev. Dan Ficklin officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 12 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington.
