Amy Margaret Kylander, 35, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 in Greenville, NC after a brief illness. She was born July 26, 1985 in Chapel Hill, NC to Lonny Lee Kylander and Jackie Edmonds Kylander. She graduated from Orange High School in 2003 and went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 2007 with a BA in Communication. She was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta honor society of the National Communication Association. After graduation she began her professional radio career as Amy the Intern at WSMW 98.7 Simon in Greensboro. She relocated to New Bern to be the morning personality “Amy K” at WMGV-V103.3 starting with Marc and Amy in the Morning and continuing to her most recent show, Brooks and Amy in the Morning.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Jackson Edmonds, her grandmother Margie Kylander Hughes and two uncles, Jerry Wayne Kylander and David Norman Kylander. She is survived by her parents, Lonny and Jackie Kylander, a brother, Travis Kylander and maternal grandmother, Hazel Edmonds, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She enjoyed going to NASCAR races and followed both Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. She was an Indianapolis Colts fan and a Carolina Tar Heels fan. She enjoyed camping and being outdoors. She had a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds.
The funeral will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. She will be available for viewing 8:30-10:45 Monday morning prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. You are welcome to attend or watch the service live on the Lowe Funeral Home website.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local animal rescue service.
