Sallie Jane Gerringer Murray
ELON — Mrs. Sallie Jane Gerringer Murray, 79, of 3437 Shepherd Road, Lot 18, Elon died at her residence on Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Roy Thomas Murray and the daughter of Willie Gerringer and Ernie Walls Gerringer, both deceased. She retired from Monarch Hosiery and was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Clayton and husband Dennis of Haw River, Marie Alexander of the home, Linda Tippett of Graham and Wanda Milsap and husband Bill of Walnut Cove; one son, Allen Tippett and wife Peggy of Elon; one sister, Mary Maurice of Snow Camp; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Tippett and five brothers.
A graveside service will be conducted at Shallow Ford Christian
Church cemetery on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Carlton Wilson.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
