John Rufus Owens Jr.


    GRAHAM — Mr. John Rufus Owens Jr., 78, of 1751 South Main Street, Graham died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 3:30 a.m. following one year of declining health.
    A native of Buffalo, N.Y., he was the husband of the late Jane Mix Owens and the son of John Rufus Owens Sr. and Alma Clapp Owens, both deceased. He was a retired bookkeeper for B & A Remnant and retired Chief Mechanic at the Chrysler Dealership in High Point, N.C. He was a member of the Junior Order.
    Survivors include two daughters, Miss Michaelle Owens of the home and Mrs. Judy Smith of Burlington; two sons, Mr. John Walter and wife Mary of Graham and Mr. David Walter and wife Debbie of Mills River; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    A graveside service will be conducted at Graham Memorial Park on Wednesday,
    April 7, 2010 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Todd Martin.
    The family will receive friends at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice
    Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
