ANDERSON — James E. (Shorty) Arnold, 82, of 203 Oakview Loop Road, died Thursday, June 16, 2010, at his residence.
He was born in Caswell County June 3, 1928 to the late James Franklin Arnold and Maggie Bowes Arnold. He was married to Edith Smith Arnold February 14, 1946, who predeceased him April 9, 2007. He retired from Caswell County School Garage after 30 years of service and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor John Crews and assisted by James Albert. Interment will follow at Oakview Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Elnora Arnold Saunders and husband Kenneth of Yanceyville, and Janet Arnold Brown and husband Steve of Kinston, South Carolina; one twin sister, Eleanor Rae Shaw of Reidsville; one brother, Oscar C. Arnold of Reidsville; grandchildren, Melissa Eanes and husband Kenneth of Graham, Tonya Saunders Pegg of Yanceyville, Brandy Saunders Sharpe of Snow Camp; great-grandchildren Mark Eanes, Heaven Eanes, Clay Tate, Jared Turner, Chelsea Sharpe, Chad Sharpe; and one great-great-grandchild, Jadian Tate.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by Ora Arnold Campbell, Hazel Estelle Arnold, Edna Arnold Ward, Archie Arnold Bulah, Arnold Woodell, Arnold Long, Estell Arnold Cross, Elizabeth Arnold Riddle, Clara Austin Faulkner; and a granddaughter, Brittany Eanes.
The family will receive friends today from 5 until 7 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home Chapel and at other times at the home.
