GRAHAM — Mrs. Nettie Shoffner Branson, 91, of Graham went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 5:38 p.m. at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Herman Ray Branson and the daughter of Lemuel N. Shoffner and Ida Isley Shoffner, both deceased. She retired from the textile industry. Nettie was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda B. Clapp and husband Freddie of Graham; one son, Jesse Branson and wife Barbara of Graham; a daughter-in-law, Mary Branson of Whitsett; nine grandchildren; 19 greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren and others as “Granny.”
She was preceded in death by one son, Tony Ray Branson; one brother, Dean Shoffner; two sisters, Minnie Davis and Eunice Holt; and one grandson , Tommy Branson.
The funeral service will be conducted at Belmont Baptist Church on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Larry Janey. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park.
The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service to lie in state.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Linda Clapp, 317 Forest Drive, Graham, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Belmont Baptist Church, 3032 Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
