Virgie Culler "Granny" Clapp was born August 19, 1924 in King, NC to Claude and Lillie Culler. She died on Sunday November 25, 2012 in Marion, NC. Virgie was a devoted wife of 55 years to our father,Reverend E. W. Clapp. She cared for our father the last five years of his life. She was an avid seamstress and worked in the clothing and furniture industry most of her life. She was an accomplished musician and singer who had a very gifted ministry. She was a partner in ministry with our father in each church he pastored. Virgie had a special gift of friendship. Her life was devoted to caring for others, no matter what their need was. She was a Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior. Mom consistently shared her faith with others. She was so concerned about others and she was always willing to help others in any way possible. Virgie was committed to missions and she supported not only the local missions ministry of her church, but she gave sacrificially to world missions. She taught our family the gifts of family and laughter. The greatest gift she gave our family was a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. It is fitting that both our father and mother went home to be with the Lord on Sundays-days we were taught to set aside for worship.
