Adolphus Harrison Durham


    GIBSONVILLE — Adolphus Harrison Durham of 5585 N.C. 87 North passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Hospice Home.

    Mr. Durham was born June 24, 1919 in Alamance County to the late Walter Harrison and Nannie Chatham Durham. Mr. Durham was the husband of the late Bessie Shepherd Durham. He retired from farming, Glen Raven Mills, and he attended Altamahaw Baptist Church.

    Survivors include three sons, James H. Durham and his wife Millie of Gibsonville, Harold L. Durham of Durham, and Billy E. Durham and his wife Carol of Snow Camp; four daughters, Barbara Wagnor of Graham, Judy Revis of Burlington, Brenda Guffey of Burlington, and Linda Harris and her husband Tommy of Gibsonville; 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Nance and Polly Durham.

    Harrison was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Fred Durham, Vernon Durham, and Elmo Durham; three sisters, Ruth McIntyre, Lib Michael, and Annie Lee; and three sonsin-law, Ronnie Wagnor, Joe Revis, and Paul Guffey.

    A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Steve Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

    The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
