Obituary:
Mrs. Brownie P. Cherry went home on April 7, 2011 from the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born September 21, 1923 in Forsyth County to the late Luther and Mary Peoples. Brownie has gone to meet her Savior, Jesus Christ, the one who died for her and all those who preceded her in death – her one and only true love, her husband Gene Cherry, her parents, her beautiful great grandson, Joshua Pass; her brothers, Marion (Bud) and Jack Peoples; a sister-in-law, Hazel Peoples; a niece, Mary Ellen Peoples and a nephew, Michael Peoples.

Surviving are her three daughters, Judy DeHart (Roger) of Ararat, NC, Patti Huffman (Gary) of Winston-Salem and Peggy Cherry of Laguna Beach, CA; one brother, Joe Peoples of Michigan; five grandchildren, Joe Whitesell, Ginna Ruckh, Amy Quattlebaum, Meredith Moore and Brandi Noyola; and twelve great grandchildren, Dylan, Bridget, DJ, Katie, Eric, Brandon, Alex, Haley, Andrew, Christopher, Kalei and Christian; sisters-in-law Ruth Peoples and Joan Peoples, and her dearly loved sister-in-law, Juanita Peoples.

Brownie was employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for 41 years and ran the outside information booth at the Dixie Classic Fair for more than 40 years. Her first love was her church, Edgewood Baptist Church where she taught the Mary V Peoples Sunday School Class for many years. Her love for people and her concern for their souls was an example for so many and will live on forever.

A Celebration of Her Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Odom and Rev. Shawn Dobbs officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Rev. Joe McWethy officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com. Her family would like to thank her physician, Dr. M. Scott Vogler, special aids for years, Judy Willard and Kay Beavers, and all of the Mountain Valley Hospice team who made her final days on the earth loving and pain free.
