BURLINGTON — John Thomas “Tommy” Shoffner, 85, formerly of Mt. Hope Church Road, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at White Oak Manor in Burlington. He was born in Guilford County to the late Thomas JoynerandMaryNoraGreeson Shoffner and was married to the late Lorena Garrett Shoffner. Tommy was a residential construction supervisor who enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, John Samuel “Sam” (Pat) Shoffner of Liberty, Daniel Lee “Danny” Shoffner of Whitsett and Thomas Philip “Phil” (Carla) Shoffner of Wylie, Texas; granddaughters, Amber Collins-Shoffner and Shelly Collins-Shoffner; greatgranddaughter, Persephone Amber Shoffner-Little; sisters, Mazie Coulman, Osa Rea McAdoo and brother, Leonard Shoffner. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Staley, Swannie Belle Johnson, Georgia Emma May, Maggie Lea Coble and brother, Richard Shoffner.
The service will be private.
