Mrs. Hazel Horner Lewis
   BURLINGTON — Mrs. Hazel Horner Lewis, 93, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed from this earthly life to Life Everlasting at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011. She resided at her home of 70 years, 2805 North NC 49 Highway, Burlington.

   A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Dace Allison Lewis Sr., and the daughter of the late Garland S. Horner and the late Ollie Jone Rudd Horner. She was also preceded in death by her brother, A.G. Horner.

   Mrs. Lewis was a lifetime member of Long’s Chapel Christian Church, the Women’s Fellowship and was a member of the Young and Hearts.

   She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Joan Wrenn and husband, Clelon, of Burlington; her son, Dr. Dace A. Lewis Jr. and wife, Angela, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Thomas “Bud” Clelon Wrenn Jr. and wife, Tammy; Christopher Lewis “Lew” Wrenn and wife, Tarina; Maryjo W. Pollard and husband, David; Ira Andrew “Andy” Wrenn and wife, Angie; Angela “Angel” L. Stutts and husband, Randy, and Dace “Dee” A. Lewis III and Volla; 15 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah and Katy Wrenn; Chris and Tabitha Wrenn; Justin and Jessie Pollard; Trisha, Matthew and Caleb Wrenn; Allison, Ashley and Lee Stutts; Decimus and Alik Lewis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   Her caregivers were Faye Richmond,

   Mary White, Vickie Horner, Patty McLean, Elizabeth

   Wright, Lydia Harris and Mary Martin.

   Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in Long’s Chapel Christian Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. James Baugh, the Rev. Dr. Dace A. Lewis Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Thomas “Bud” Wrenn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham. Other times they will be at the residence.

   The family would like to offer a special thanks to Amy, Belinda, Tom and Scott with Duke Hospice, and Dr. Sarah Ringel and the staff of Hillsborough Family Practice.
