Nancy Carol Barrow

On the evening of June 2, 2011, Nan Barrow, age 77, went to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Fla.
Nan was born Nancy Carol Clapp on Feb. 27, 1934, to her loving parentsWilliam A. Clapp and Lillian Lake May in the city of Gibsonville.
Nothing was more important to her than family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby F. Barrow (married Sept. 2, 1955, at Fort Meade, Md.), and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Ginger L. (Kent) Dahlquist, Bobi G. Barrow, Barbie C. Barrow, William F. Barrow, Brenda L. (Andreas) Bernt; grandchildren, Erika K. Dahlquist, Robin E. Dahlquist, Bobby K. Dahlquist, Brandy N. Bernt, Nikolaus A. Bernt, Trista A. Barrow; aunts, Francis C. (Wade) Sharpe, Marie C. (Marshall) Paul; sister, Polly C. (Jerry) Higgins; brother, Jimmy A. (Carolyn) Clapp; niece, Abbie H. (David) Thomas; and nephews, Donald R. Higgins and William E. Clapp.
Nan grew up in Whitsett, living with her family at the intersection of N.C. 61 and Burlington Road. She loved her childhood and thought about home often. Nan joined the United States Army on May 31, 1954, and served at Edgewood Army Chemical Center and Fort Knox. She truly enjoyed her time in the U.S. Army, especially working with the soldiers in her unit. Nan and Bob had a special relationship with the United States Air Force Fire Protection
(Pope, Eglin, Tyndall AFB) and loved visiting firefighters and military service members everywhere. She had so many good friends and best friends all over the United States, too numerous to mention here, but know that she thought of all of you and is still looking over us now.
Flower arrangements are being accepted at Davis Watkins Funeral Home and/or donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., NewYork, NY 10016.
Graveside services were held at Beal Memorial Cemetery on Friday, June 10, 2011, at 2 p.m.
We will miss hugs and kisses to comfort us; words to guide us and dry our tears; joy in the good times; your laugh and smile; strength in the bad; hope that brightened our world; faith in God that lifted our hearts, and each day that blessed our lives … You are the best part of us; we will think of you every day and look forward to the time when we will be together again. We love you!
