BURLINGTON – Jimmy Arton Clapp, 71, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
A native of Guilford County, he was born January 31, 1947 to the late William Arton and Lake May Clapp and was the husband of 50 years to Carolyn Whitaker Clapp who survives.
He was a loving, devoted husband, father, brother and uncle. He had knack for making people laugh and he never met a stranger.
Jimmy was a charter member, treasurer and trustee of Faith Bible Chapel. He was employed for 42 years as office manager at Levin Brothers and later Commercial Metals.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Whitaker Clapp of the home; son, Edward Clapp of Burlington; godsons, Ben Roney, Michael Roney and Matthew Roney; sister, Polly Clapp Higgins and husband Jerry of Gibsonville; special nephews, Donald Higgins of Gibsonville and Frank Barrow of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; special nieces, Abbie Higgins Thomas and husband, David of Graham, Ginger Barrow Dahlquist of Salt Lake City, Utah, Brenda Barrow Bernt of Tampa, Florida, and Bobbie Barrow and Barbie Barrow of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Clapp Barrow and husband Bob Barrow.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2018 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Josh House and Layman Mack Ray. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
Mr. Clapp will remain at Lowe Funeral Home through the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
