BURLINGTON — Mrs. Katie Russell Ingle, 89, of Bellemont-Mt. Hermon Road, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center at 2 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, following a brief illness.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Clayton Kenneth Ingle and the daughter of Lawrence S. Russell and Alzora Allen Russell, both deceased.
Katie retired from Alamance Memorial Hospital as head of housekeeping. She spent her later years volunteering at Bellemont United Methodist Church where she was a life-long member and also a member of the Clarice Pickett Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren and always carried their latest photos to share.
Katie also loved her yard and flower gardens. Her flowers provided a personal ministry. She shared them with sick friends and for weddings, showers, church worship services and church events. Before arthritis prevented her from quilting, she made numerous beautiful quilts. Each child, grandchild and greatgrandchild has a special quilt. She donated quilts for auctions and charities and gave them as gifts.
Survivors include two daughters, Angeline I. White and husband Jerry of High Point and Mary Anna I. McAdams and husband Larry of Rocky Mount; son, Kenneth L. Ingle and wife Debbie of Burlington; two sisters, Agnes R. Yount of Burlington and Johnnie Ellen R. Blair and husband A.B. of Williamsburg, Va.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three nephews; and three greatnephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alyece R. Fletcher and two brothers-in-law, Marvin E. Yount Jr. and John “Jack” Fletcher.
A celebration of her life will be conducted at Bellemont United Methodist Church on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Farron Duncan with the family receiving friends from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Bellemont United Methodist Church Music Ministry, c/o Bellemont United Methodist Church, 4039 Markwood Drive, Burlington, NC 27215.
The family expresses gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, aides and chaplains at Alamance Regional Medical Center and to the many friends who supported us.
