Ruth Ann Barker Gilliam, 75, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. She was born in Guilford County to the late Jesse James and Ruth Estelle Mitchell Barker and was married for 47 years to Stevie Darrell Gilliam who survives.
She worked at Westpoint Stevens for over 20 years. She enjoyed dancing, bingo, watching jewelry tv shows but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a caregiver who enjoyed taking care of others and family more than herself. Ruth wanted everyone to know that she was saved and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Stevie; children, Margaret Hatcher (Tanya), Danny Hatcher (Terri), Michael Gilliam (Kristen); 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Teddy Hatcher, Jr. and a brother, Johnny Barker.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Eric Rudd with burial to follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. 256, Ruth Ann Barker Gilliam
