Carol Smith Roney Carland
Mrs. Barbara Carol Smith Roney Carland, age 84, of Mebane, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Compass Healthcare after several months of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Broadie Smith and the late Ruth Webster Smith and was first married to the late James Duke “Bubba” Roney, who passed in 1998.
She later was remarried to the late Jennings Carland, Jr., who passed in 2021.
Carol was a longtime member of Long’s Chapel Christian Church and was employed for many years as a Realtor with Ralph Harris Real Estate before retiring from Beverly Hanks Real Estate in Asheville, NC.
Carol was an avid reader and loved country music.
Mrs. Carland is survived by her three sons, Dennis Roney and his wife, Pamela, Timothy Roney and Darryl Roney and his wife, Marcy; two grandchildren, Lucas Roney and Jessie Roney; and a half-brother, Mike Smith.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; and a brother, Bob Smith.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Long’s Chapel Christian Church by Rev. Jacob Danieley. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 PM Thursday prior to the service at the church.
