William “Bill” Dolphia Garner


    BURLINGTON — William “Bill” Dolphia Garner, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012. He was a native of Moore County and the husband of the late Dorothy Mc-Neil Garner.

    Bill retired from the transportation division of Burlington Industries as a truck driver. He was a veteran of the US Army serving at the end of World War II. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

    Survivors include his sons, Mark Garner and his wife, Sherry of Haw River and Dale Garner and his wife, Denise of Julian; grandchildren, Caleb, Ali, Brooke and Christian Garner, Amanda and Bridgette Clifton; companion, Thelma Crumley of Burlington and sisters, Melvina Garner and Stella Phillips, both of Moore County, Theo Baulding of Burlington.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, son, William Roger Garner; parents, William Wesley and Martha Caviness Garner; sisters, Swannie Garner and Ann Brady; brothers, Everett, Walter and Waldo Garner.

    A service to celebrate his life will be conducted on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Frederick Bunts and a private burial was held prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mark and Sherry Garner following the service.
