BURLINGTON — Mr. Herbert Loy, 85, of 2430 Morningside Drive, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at 3:35 p.m. after a year of declining health.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Nancy Thompson Loy, who survives and the son of Hamilton E. Loy and Annie Jane Somers Loy, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict and a counter salesman for Alley & Rader Co. Inc. Herbert was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church, the Alamance Seniors’ Golf Association and the Wildlife Club.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, Herbert Michael Loy and wife LuAnn S. Loy of Mount Airy; a daughter, Cynthia Ann Loy, of the home; and a grandchild, Maddie Loy, of Mount Airy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earlie J. Loy and Russell B. Loy; and two sisters, Lena Taylor and Rosa Pegram.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. by Pastor Ellen McCubbin with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in the Rose Garden at Alamance Memorial
Park. Other times, the family will be at the residence.
