Roy Vernon Wrenn, 70, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Alamance County to the late Max and Ollie Wrenn. He retired from the automotive industry after 33 years of service. He was a member of Glen Raven Baptist Church for over 35 years. He loved his church family and served as a deacon for many years.
Roy was a devoted husband, loving father, and paw-paw. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.
He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed farming and watching his crops grow in the summer. In the winter he looked forward to decorating his home with beautiful Christmas lights for his grandchildren and others to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carolyn B. Wrenn of the home, daughter, Wendy Moorefield and her husband Donnie; son, Chad and his wife Martina all of Burlington; grandchildren, Zachary Brady, Mikaela Moorefield, Sydney Brady, and Lexi Wrenn; six sisters, Irma Cozart, Daisy Eury, Sylvia Smith, Lynette Hardy all of Burlington, Doris Ward and Norma Price both of Elon; two brothers, Joe Wrenn of Haw River and Iven Wrenn of Elon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Glen Raven Baptist Church by the Rev. Bobby Fann. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
