BURLINGTON — Earl Columbus Graves, 95, passed away Feb. 27, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Alamance County to the late Ura Denton Graves and the late Flossie Shoffner Graves and was the husband of 74 years to Gertrude Cole Graves, who survives.
Earl retired from J. Spencer Love Center. He was a carpenter and a member of Low’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed building things with his hands, was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors.
Survivors, other than his wife of the home, include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Norma Graves of Burlington; grandchildren and spouses, Stacey and Beth Graves, Travis and Robin Graves; great-grandchildren, Ashley Graves, James Graves and Amanda Graves;great-stepgrandson, Alex Cauthren; brother, Fred B. Graves of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dorinda Graves Kelly; sisters, Iona G. Nuckols, Rosa G. Cole and Elaine G. Mann; brothers, Elmer Graves, Alton Graves, Marvin Graves and U.D. Graves.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Low’s Lutheran Church by Pastor David Mielke, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
