James Melvin Carter, 67, of Madison, NC, died December 22, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Carter was born June 16, 1939, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Henry Clay Carter and Ellabell Southern Carter.
He was previously employed with Yates Brothers, subcontractors for Duke Power Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Stanley.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth May Carter; daughter, Angela Carter; brothers, Ed Carter, Alton Carter, and Edison Carter; grandchildren, Johnny Smith and Keith Smith Jr. 470, James Melvin Carter
