BURLINGTON — Mrs. Nellie M. “Polly” Hilliard, 80, of 2740 Berkley Road, Burlington died at the Hospice Home on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 3:50 p.m.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Curtis L. Hilliard and the daughter of Preston Massey and Maggie Oakley Massey, both deceased. She retired from Kayser-Roth Hosiery and was a member of Eastlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Terresa Kirby and husband Joey of Cedar Grove, Ivy Hilliard of Raleigh and Cindy Simpson and husband Larry of Burlington; son, Wayne Pennington and wife Cindy of Mt. Airy; a sister, Mildred Copeland of Sunland, Calif.; a brother, John Massey, of Burlington; six grandchildren, Morgan and Brennan Kirby, April and Daniel Simpson and Chris and Kevin Conner; and four great-grandchildren, Jade and Willow Conner and Ben and Samantha Simpson.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Rosalyn Steagal, Preston “Buck” Massey, Reid Massey, Ray Massey, Mae Rudd, Melvin Massey, Milliard Massey.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Terry Pritchard. At other times the family will be at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance/Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
