BURLINGTON, N.C. - Sadie May Tyndall, age 99, a resident of The Presbyterian Home of Hawfields went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2009.

She was born in Alamance County on August 29, 1909 to the late Jesse and Bessie Shoffner May. Sadie was married to the late Clovis F. Tyndall, a local barber in the community for over 50 years and together they raised 6 children.

Sadie was a retired local hosiery worker, homemaker, and loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She attended Ireland Street Chapel until going into the nursing home. She loved reading her Bible and telling others how God had blessed her with family and eternal life.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Pattishall of Graham, Alice Michael and her husband, Larry of Burlington, Ellen Murrell and her husband, Jimmy of South Carolina, Gleen Tyndall of Graham and Dean Sanders and her husband, Terrell of Georgia; son, Clovis "Bud" A. Tyndall of Yanceyville; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; sister, Dalton Clapp of Florida and a brother, John May of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; brothers, Ralph, Clifton "Jack" and Ira May.

The Tyndall family wants to thank all the staff, nurses and aides at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields for all the special care and love they gave to Sadie. We want to extend our thanks to the Ladies of Ireland Street Chapel and the many friends for their prayers.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Larry Batts and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.
