Margaret Smith Todd

YADKINVILLE, N.C. - Mrs. Margaret Smith Todd, 85, of West Maple Street, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born July 30, 1924 in Alamance County to the late Terry and Nettie Lee Smith. Mrs. Todd worked for several years with Crown Drug Store in Yadkinville, was active with the Yadkinville and Asheville Tobacco Markets, was most importantly a loving mother and grandmother to her family, and enjoyed cooking for all of them. She was a faithful member of Deep Creek Baptist Church where she served the church as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered with the Hoots Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman James Todd; her stepmother, Maggie Beckom Smith; a son, Carl Douglas "Butch" Todd; a sister, Betsy Albright; and three brothers, Allen Smith, J.C. Smith, and Mac Ross.

Surviving are her children, Linda (Paul) Pardue of Jonesville, Bobby (Trish) Todd of Yadkinville, Tony (Jan) Todd of York, S.C.; grandchildren, Jone Todd of Raleigh, Katherine Pardue of Jonesville, Patrick Todd of Yadkinville, Rachel Todd and Jimmy Todd of York, S.C.; a sister, Mary Jane Pettigrew of Burlington; brothers, Ross Smith of Burlington, Dan (Linda) Smith of Greensboro, Luther (Brenda) Smith of Burlington, Pete (Vicki) Smith of Elon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary with Dr. Ron Davis and the Rev. Rick Page officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at other times at the home of her son, Bobby Todd, 1033 Three Brothers Road, Yadkinville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Deep Creek Baptist Church, 2401 Old Stage Road, Yadkinville, N.C. 27055 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Yadkin Nursing Center, for all the loving care given to Mrs. Todd during her stay.
