Obituary Online notes for “Mike” Ruben Edward MAY
Mr. Ruben Edward "Mike" May, 88, of Dewey, died at 9:55 A.M. on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. May will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Wright of the First Baptist Church in Dewey officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment will be directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
A memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to American Parkinson's Disease Association, 1125 S. Trenton Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74120.
Mr. May was born on October 18, 1922 at Denoya, Oklahoma to Toby and Georgie (Myers) May. He came to Bartlesville as a child with his family where he received his education and graduated from College High School. He began his employment with Phillips Petroleum Company in October of 1941 and was employed there until entering into the U.S. Army in December of 1942. He served in the European Theatre during World War II and received his Honorable Discharge on November 7, 1945. He returned to Bartlesville and was again employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a lab technician until his retirement in 1986 after 43 years. Mr. May was married to Lou Anna O'Neal on January 11, 1947 at Fredonia, Kansas and they have made their home in Dewey since that time. Mr. and Mrs. May enjoyed traveling and loved to camp. He was an active member of the Dewey VFW where he was involved in all of their activities and was also a member of the American Legion.
