Lester F. Foster, 79, of 1516 Albright Ave., died in a local hospital this morning at 2:30 o'clock after several years of failing health and two weeks of critical illness.
A native of Danville, Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Foster and Mrs. Elizabeth Ray Foster. He was a retired employee of Cone Mills in Haw River and was a member of Elon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Petty Foster of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Clapp of Rte. 3, Liberty, Mrs. Hazel Alson of the home, Mrs. Gilda McLeod, Mrs. Jeanette Chriscoe and Mrs. Betty Troup, all of Burlington; six sons, Harvey Foster of the home, Barney Foster of Alamance, Roy Foster, Arthur Foster, Tom Foster and Kenny Foster, all of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Stewart of Gibsonville; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Final rites will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington.
The Rev. W.T. Cockman, pastor of Elon Baptist Church will conduct the service, assisted by the Rev. C.H. Dooley, pastor of Peoples Memorial Christian Church. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
