Vernon Lee Tickle, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the home of his beloved daughter, Kay, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 23, 1937, in Alamance County, Vernon lived a life rich in service, adventure, and compassion.

Vernon proudly served in the National Guard and began his professional journey as a firefighter with the Burlington Fire Department for four years. He later became the owner and operator of Vernon's Exxon in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, before settling into a long and fulfilling career as the owner and operator of Mt. Hope Shell. In addition, he spent five years with Replacements, Ltd., and dedicated over two decades of his time working part-time at Stoney Creek Golf Course. Vernon's diverse career reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to serving his community.

A member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Vernon was known for his unwavering faith and dedication to his church family. He found joy in connecting with others and participating in the life of the church, where he nurtured friendships that enriched his life.

Vernon's love for life was evident in his many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and hunting, and he had a particular passion for traveling.

Alongside his late wife, Delores Sutton Tickle, whom he cherished for 26 wonderful years until her passing in 2014, they explored more than thirty states in their RV, enjoying the beauty of nature and the thrill of adventure.

He is survived by his children, Kenneth Tickle and his wife Toni, Kay Lagonigro, Tenna Chapman, Ronald Euliss, and Donna Huddleston. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. Vernon is also survived by his sister, Doris Hughes and her husband Mickey, his son-in-law, Dennis White as well as several nieces and nephews who fondly remember their time with him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Tickle; his mother, Jennie Maude May Tickle Stewart; his wife, Delores Sutton Tickle; a daughter, Kim Tickle White and seven siblings.
