BURLINGTON — Mrs. Lillie Travis Somers, 92, formerly of Morningside Drive, died at the Hospice Home on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at 11:35 a.m. following six months failing health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Robert E. Somers and the daughter of Robert Thomas Travis and Ruth Lillie Smith Travis, both deceased. She retired from Roses Department Store and was a volunteer at the Kernodle Senior Center and Alamance Health Care Center. Lillie attended Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include three nieces, Brenda Whitten, Deborah Sutton and Daryl Walker; a nephew, Keith Travis; and several nieces and nephews of the Somers family.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Henry Travis, John Wesley Travis and William Thomas Travis and four sisters, Mabel T. Redding, Ola T. White and two infant sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. by Elder David Underwood. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of a niece, Daryl Walker, 4347 NC 62 North, Burlington, NC 27217.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
