Karen Gillispie Davis
Mrs. Karen Gillispie Davis, 46, of Franklinville, NC, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center after a long and courageous fi ght with breast cancer.
A native of Greensboro, NC, Karen was born May 27, 1967. She was the daughter of Glenda Southard Gillispie and the late Robert Worth Gillispie Jr. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lynn Snotherly.
In addition to her mother, of Burlington, NC, she leaves behind her loving husband of 15 years, Bennie Davis, of the home; sons, Benny Davis, of Richfi eld, NC, Jacob, of the home; sister, Debbie Van Fleet, and husband Glenn, of Burlington, NC; brother, Barry Gillispie, and wife Tracey, of Archdale, NC; brothers-in-law Darrell Snotherly, of Greensboro, NC, Wayne Davis and wife, Maureen, of Albemarle, NC; mother-in-law, Sandy Ussery and husband, Sam, of New London, NC; nieces, Lauren Van Fleet, Erin Van Fleet, Ashley King, Ashlyn Snotherly, Brooke Davis and husband, Will; nephews, Ryan Van Fleet, Austin Snotherly, Dominic Gillispie, Jordan Gillispie, Brad Davis; great niece, McKinley Davis; great nephew, Hurley Rich; and friends, Thomas and Michelle Wood, Christi Cross and Will Cross.
From being a paramedic, a 911 operator, and a phlebotomist to a supervisor at Solstas Laboratories, she was able to touch many lives. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, an aunt, and most of all a friend. She was an inspiration to all she encountered and her impact will be felt in the lives of those who knew her forever.
Her mother and sister will receive family and friends on Monday, November 25 2013, at Zion Christian Church, 2262 Burch Bridge Road Burlington, NC, from 5 to 7 p.m. A gathering is scheduled on Wednesday, November 27 2013, at the Exchange in Asheboro, NC from 6 to 9 p.m. A celebration of life service will begin at 7 p.m.
