James Edgar Aiken Sr.
HAW RIVER — Mr. James Edgar “Jim” Aiken Sr., 86, died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after five years of failing health and two weeks critical illness.
Born in Guilford County, he was to the son of the late Guy and Ethel Russell Aiken, a U.S. Army veteran, retired from Annedeen Hosiery and a lifetime member of the Hillsborough Moose Lodge.
Family members surviving him are his wife of 46 years, Linda Lankford Aiken, of the home; sons, James
E. “Jimmy” Aiken and wife Juanita and James W. “Buster” Aiken and wife Trudy; daughters, Gail Sharpe, Clara Gurkin and Katrina Rickman, all of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Thompson of Savannah, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, Dec. 20, 2014, at the McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham
from 6 until 8 and at other times at the home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, in the McClure Chapel officiated by Pastor Tim Thornton. Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Park with Military Rites.
