February 17, 1936 - January 16, 2014
Wayne Russell King, age 77 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2014.
He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 59 years to Geneva Evans King who survives.
Wayne retired after 40 years with Burlington Industries, Pioneer Plant and was a longtime member of Altamahaw Baptist Church. Wayne enjoyed Nascar racing and especially Ford automobiles. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Evans King of the home; son, James Wayne King and wife, Sharon of Burlington and a daughter, Kathryn King Duckworth and husband, Gurnie of Burlington; grandchildren, Kevin King, Staci K. Harris and Brandi L. Duckworth; seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Lynn King and great granddaughter, Kadence Harris ; parents, Walter Hobson and Pattie Pearl Scott King; two sisters, five brothers and two step brothers.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Altamahaw Baptist Church by Dr. Steve Tucker and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Altamahaw Baptist Church Building Fund, 3445 Altamahaw Church Street, Elon, NC 27244.
