Mr. Robert H. "Bob" Foster, 85, of 7063 Kivette House Road, died at the residence of his granddaughter in Mebane on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 8:10 a.m. During his final weeks, his granddaughter, Tricia and husband, Donnie, devoted themselves entirely to the care of Mr. Foster.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Lilly Belle Ingle Foster and Betty Sue Pethel Foster, both deceased, and the son of William Ernest Foster and Bessie Minor Foster, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and a retired ceramic tile installer. He was a former little league baseball coach and Boy Scout leader of Troop #265. He was a member of Springwood Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Foster was a loving, gracious and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by two sons, Robert "Steve" Foster and wife, Cathie, and Johny "Chris" Foster and wife, Martha, all of Gibsonville; three grandchildren, Tricia Anemaet and husband, Donnie, of Mebane, Wesley Foster and wife, Kelly, of Burlington, and Robbie Foster, of Gibsonville, and fianc?, Melissa Bowman; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Lilly Anemaet.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kim Wesley Foster; three sisters, Nadine F. Steele, Hallie F. Turner and Catherine F. Sykes; and two brothers, Mr. Dallie "Babe" Foster and William "Pete" Foster.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Bruce Church and Mr. Dan Ingle. Burial will follow in Springwood Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of a son, Chris Foster, 6817 Kivette House Road, Gibsonville, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
