3/12/2014

Irene Apple Murray, age 87, of Osceola-Ossipee Rd. passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.

A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Toy Dewey Apple and Ruth Lowe Apple and wife of R.C. "Dee" Murray who survives. She was a former employee of Lowe's Garden Center and Apple's Chapel Christian Church Daycare. She was a lifelong member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church.

Irene loved in a big way. She loved her husband, her boys, her grandbabies and great grandbabies. She actually loved any child that crossed her path. She was a loving neighbor and friend. Irene always thought of others first. She loved to work in her plants and flowers and was a fabulous cook. Her Italian cream cake was her signature dish. All who knew and loved her will miss her dearly, but know they will see her again.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. "Dee" Murray of the home; sons, Dean Murray and wife Devonah and Rick Murray and wife Joni all of Gibsonville; grandchildren, Dylan Murray and Danielle Sockwell and husband John Paul; great grandchildren, Case and Cailynn Sockwell; sisters, Hattie Brown of Browns Summit and Bettie Greene and husband Sandi of Liberty; brother, Arlie Apple of Gibsonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Louise Loye and brother, Frank Apple.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers, III and Pastor Mike Mitchener.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Murray will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to Apple's Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday. -
