Doris Gerringer Shue
   BURLINGTON — Mrs. Doris Shirley Gerringer Shue, 86, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at the Homeplace of Burlington.

   A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Gerringer and the late Sarah Annie Jones Gerringer and was married for over 34 years to Welker Overton Shue Sr., who died in 1982.

   Doris was a career homemaker and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elon, where she was involved in the Women’s Society. She was also a member of the Downtown Dancers. Doris was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.

   Mrs. Shue is survived by her son, Welker O. Shue Jr. and wife Gail, of Spring Hill, Fla.; five grandchildren, Tyler Shue, Nathan Shue, Wendy Hunter, Jay Hunter and Kari Melissa Moorefield; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

   She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Karen Gay Shue Hunter Baughn, sisters, Peggy Robertson, Rose Cleone Tickle, Jean Garrison; and brothers, Bobby Gerringer, Dwight Gerringer and Basil Gerringer.

   The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2015, in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tom Barton. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

   The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening, July 23, 2015, at the funeral home and at other times at the granddaughter, Kari’s home.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Blinded Veterans Association, 125 N. West St., 3rd floor, Alexandria VA 22314.
