Wilma Rainey Brooks Hurdle
   BURLINGTON — Mrs. Wilma Rainey Brooks Hurdle, 93, of McCray Road, Burlington died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. following a few months of declining health.

   A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Ralph Brooks and the late Harris Hurdle and the daughter of Robert W. Rainey Sr. and Annie King Rainey, both deceased. She retired from Mebane Shoe Company as a sales lady and had also worked at McCray Mini Mart as a waitress. She was a member of Union Ridge Church.

   Survivors include two sons, Larry Brooks and wife Patricia of Graham and Donald Brooks and wife Janice of Burlington; two sisters, Nettie “Polly” Dixon and Mary Lou Bolick, both of Burlington; two brothers, Dean Rainey and wife Libby of Burlington and Dewey Rainey and wife Anna of Mebane; three grandchildren, Kevin Brooks and wife Daphne, Leslie Eugene Brooks and wife Kim and Sharon B. Faucette and husband Speedy; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

   She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Aaron Taylor Faucette; two sisters, Beatrice R. Walker and Dorothy Harccum; and five brothers, William “Bill” Rainey, Robert “Dub” Rainey Jr., Paul “P.K.” Rainey, John Mack Rainey and Charles “Red” Rainey.

   The funeral service will be conducted at Union Ridge Church on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dan Ficklin and the Rev. James L. Rosser. Burial will follow in McCray Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

   The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

   The memorials may be made to the Rainey Scholarship Fund c/o Union Ridge Church, 115 Altamahaw Union Ridge Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
