Obituary
James Stroud Pool, 75, of Beaver Dam Court, Chapel Hill, died Tuesday afternoon in Duke Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack Sunday night at his home. He was the son of the late James Samuel and Rosa Hill Poole.
He was born in Durham County and attended the county schools. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1934. Poole was employed with the state retirement system in Raleigh for several years, then joined Wright Machinery, which later became Sperry-Rand. He retired in 1972 after about 25 years with Wright and Sperry-Rand. He attended two churches in Chapel Hill,
Orange Methodist and University Methodist.
The funeral will be conducted in the Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel by Elder Cleo Robertson. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Faucette Poole; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Morris of Hingham, MA, and Mrs. Susan Ray of State College, PA; two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Tilley of Durham County and Mrs. Luna Cothran of Sanford; three brothers, Lonnie Poole, Howard Poole, and Floyd Poole, all of Durham; and three grandchildren.
