Edna Coble Byrd
ELON — Mrs. Edna Coble “Maw Maw” Byrd, 80,went home to be with the Lord at her residence on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at 5:47 a.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Joseph Hubert Byrd and the daughter of Julius Caesar Coble and Mammie Florence Rippy Coble, both deceased. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her special friend, Estelle Sartin, and watching her grandchildren. Edna was a member of Westside Fellowship.
Survivors include two sons, Tyson Lee Byrd and fiancée Teresa Mitchell and Joseph Hubert Byrd Jr., all of Burlington; daughter, Linda Byrd Oakley and husband Dean of Elon; four grandchildren, Andrea S. Ross and husband David, Brandi S. Foster and husband Brian, Joey L. Byrd and wife Brittany and Kelly B. Earley and husband Matt; six great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Moricle, Hayden Moricle, Hannah Ross, Branson Foster, Brinkley Foster and Jacob Byrd; sister, Brenda C. Stuckey; special friend, Estelle Sartin and special extended family; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers,
J. C. Coble, Jr. and wife Edith and Kenneth H. Coble and wife Mary Etta.
The funeral service will be conducted at Westside Fellowship on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mike Mitchener with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Christian Church cemetery. At other times they will be at the residence, 3151 Lowe Road, Elon, N.C.
