DURHAM — Anna Louella Kernodle Moorefield, age 93, (formerly of 1020 Stokes Street in Burlington) passed away Jan. 15, 2015, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
She was the wife of Clifton D. “Joe” Moorefield, deceased, for 52 years. She is the daughter of Edgar William Kernodle and Iona Walker Kernodle, both deceased.
She retired from Duke University Medical Center and has been a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church since 1949.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Moorefield Cross (husband Thomas) and one sister, Onie Kernodle Jordan. She was preceded in death by daughter, Lynne Moorefield Mann; two grandsons, Robert “Robbie” Mann and Thomas Duryl Cross Jr.; sisters, Mable K. Cook, Irene Kernodle and Iris Douglas; brothers, William “Bill” Kernodle and Harvey Kernodle. She is also survived by five grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
After retirement,
she did extensive traveling with many of her friends from Kinnett,
venturing to many foreign lands.
Visitation will be held at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Burlington on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.at the Rich & Thompson Chapel immediately following the visitation with the Rev. Don Pegg officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
The family will be at the home of Tom and Pat Cross, 1220 Carpenter Fletcher Road in Durham, NC.
