Doris Brumble Chatman
SIMPSONVILLE, SC - Doris Brumble Chatman, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at NHC Mauldin in Mauldin SC.
Born in Dillon, SC on May 2, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Winfield Hancock Brumble and Bessie Tucker Brumble.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Burlington, NC where she worked for Duke Power (Energy) for over 42 years.
In Burlington, she attended Grove Park Baptist Church for many years. After retiring, she spent many years volunteering at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was also a member of the Duke Energy Retirees Association and did volunteer work with them as well which included tutoring in reading for children and annual coat drives.
In 2011, she moved to the Greenville, SC area to be near her daughter and was a resident at NHC Mauldin for several years. Doris will always be remembered for her love of cooking, especially for her family and for planting flowers.
Survivors include her son, Johnny (Pattie) Shaw of Snow Camp, NC and daughter, Sandra (Larry) Davidson of Simpsonville, SC as well as three grandchildren, Taylor Shaw of Burlington, NC, Anna Davidson and Emily Davidson of Simpsonville, SC; two brothers, W.H. Brumble, Jr., and Horace Brumble.
Doris was preceded in death by her brothers, Walker Brumble and Douglas Brumble and her sisters, Edna Louise Brumble, Carro Powell, Thelma Johnson, Bessie Virginia Brumble, Beatrice Gibbs and Margaret Lee.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Mackey Mortuary from 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. graveside at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, SC.
