Obituary Online notes for Wilbert Ray RAINEY Sr.
ELON Wilbert Ray Rainey, 65, of 84 Rainey Drive, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at his home after a sudden illness. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Altamahaw Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Jones and the Rev. Felton Massey. Interment will follow at Kerr's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Caswell County, he was the son of the late Coy Wilbert Rainey and Mrs. Flora Cobb Rainey, who survives and was married to Mrs. Linda Ward Rainey who survives. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 30 years service and was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church.

Mr. Rainey is survived by his wife of the home; his mother of Caswell County; two sons, Wilbert Ray Rainey Jr., and his wife, Tina of Elon and Mark Anthony Rainey of Elon; three grandchildren, Tia Marie Rainey, Coy Zackary Rainey and Brandon Blake Rainey; two sisters, Linda Dunevant and her husband, Coy of Durham and Lona Yeatts of Mebane; a brother, A.D. Rainey and his wife, Joyce of Elon; a brother-in-law, Malcom "Smokey" Stratton and his wife, Carol of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Mrs. Edna Jeannette Stratton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
