Ruth Elizabeth Patterson
May 17, 1927 ~ December 15, 2023 (age 96)

Our Mother, Ruth Elizabeth Allred Patterson, entered the pearly gates of heaven on December 15, 2023. She was the daughter of Hattie Ila Smith Allred and Robert Hall Allred. She was married to the late Joseph Gladston Patterson.

She is survived by two daughters Ila May Bowman of Reidsville, NC and Sharon Ruth Cooper of Burlington, NC; grandchildren Preston Mathew (Melanie) Bowman of Olathe Kansas, Todd Travis Bowman (Jessica) of Kernersville, NC and Joseph Lewis Cooper of Mebane NC; great grandchildren, Brittany Leigh Greene, Lauren Elaine Bowman, Kara Ann Bowman, and Emma Susan Bowman; great great grandchild, Titus Greene; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Julie McPherson. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Tracy Leigh Cooper.

Mama was a very special lady…people were important to her. She put every stitch into Ila May and Sharon’s wedding gowns and sewed ALL our clothes until we became teenagers.

She had a special gift as she owned her own business “Tables By Ruth”. She was also gifted with a special talent for decorating and baking the best cakes in town. She was also the best seamstress in town.

Another gift was her desire to appreciate “things” of life. She was Valedictorian of her High School class and she and Daddy formed a trio, The Galileans and were invited to various local and out of state church to sing. She also studied the Bible from beginning to end earning her degree from The Bible Institute.

Mama Ruth was always friendly and rarely met a stranger. Today we believe she is baking cakes and passing out chicken pie in Heaven.

The funeral service will be conducted at Beacon Baptist Church on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
