Marilyn Clapp Loye


BROWNS SUMMIT – Mrs. Marilyn Clapp Loye, age 82, of Browns Summit, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at her home after several months of failing health.
A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Chalmer Rankin Clapp and the late Leola Cook Clapp and was married for over 46 years to the late Morris M. Loye, who passed away in 2001.

She was a career homemaker and farmer and was a longtime member of Apple’s Chapel Christian Church. Marilyn enjoyed music, fishing and was an avid gardener.
Mrs. Loye is survived by her four children, Jimmy Loye, Debbie Nelson, Kathy Wyrick and her husband, Billy, and Donnie Loye; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law, Dorothy Short; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Rev. Rosser Lee Clapp and Junior Clapp.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C. Allen Myers III and Rev. Larry Pope.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 – 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
