Lillian Faye Flinchum Clapp, 80, of Julian died Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.

Lillian was born March 12, 1939 in Julian, NC to the late Oliver Cornelious and Nonnie Arrington Flinchum. She was a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ and a member of Mt. Hope Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary of which she helped organize.

She married her husband Clifford H. Clapp in 1957 and they farmed until 1965 when they started and co-owned Clapps Garage. This continued until 1991 when Clifford passed away. She loved God, family, flowers, animals, cooking, sewing and all of cats. She worked hard farming, cooking, cleaning and raising her four kids. Anyone and everyone was welcome at her table.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; sisters, Ruemel Brown, Roxie Wright, and Bertie Kime; and a brother, Clayton Flinchum.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Howard (Jeff), Sharon Hutchens (Ronnie), and Debra Clapp; son, Phil Clapp; brothers, O. C. Flinchum (Peggy) and Fred Flinchum (Ila); grandchildren, Michelle Draper, April Giron, Marshall Hutchens, Adam Hutchens, and Lauren Hutchens; four great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and most of the kids in her neighborhood.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greensboro and Clapps Nursing Center, especially her “Special Angels” that loved and cared for her. She loved them like her own family.
