Charles Wayne “Little Wayne” Dhue, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home.
He was born on November 20, 1954 in Durham County to the late Charles Thomas Dhue and Edna Jeanette Mitchell Baker, and was the husband of 34 years to Cynthia “Cindy” Matherly Dhue of the home.
Charles retired from Arrowhead Industries as a DOT Tester and was a US Navy veteran. He was a former member of Baptist Temple Church, enjoyed art, wood working, and wood burning with the sun. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors other than his wife, Cindy Dhue include his children, Thomas Shane Matherly, Susan Linell Brand (Audie), and Stephen Alexander Pickard, Jr. (Natasha); grandchildren, Melanie Pickard, Anita Brand (Jentrey), Gavin Gosvener, Oliva Pickard and Stephen “AJ” Alexander Pickard III; and a great grandson, Jordan “Pork Chop” Jenkins; nephew, Eric Ayers; great niece, Anya Ayers; a great nephew, Dakota Ayers; and many cousins.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Judy Ayers.
The family will be celebrating Charles’ life at a memorial gathering on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the son, Stephen’s home, 1230 Rauhut Street, Burlington, NC 27217.
