Fred Lee Whitesell, 78, of Gibsonville passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Marylou George Whitesell and the son of Ben Whitesell and Mamie Terry Whitesell, both deceased. He retired from Aramark and was a member of Guiding Light Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Whitesell Hart of Gibsonville; three grandchildren, Chris Hart and wife Brandy, Crystal Dunn, and Nicholas Hart; four great grandchildren, Camille Hart, Hayley Dunn, Tyler Wade, and Trey Wade; and two step-great-grandchildren, Ava Hall and Noah Hall. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Ben Whitesell and one sister, Rita W. Crissman.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday, January 1, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of his granddaughter, Crystal Dunn, 501 Wood Street, Gibsonville, NC.
A graveside service will be conducted at Gibsonville City Cemetery on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. [335]

Marylou George Whitesell, 74, of Gibsonville passed away at AuthoraCare Collective Hospice Home on Thursday, November 26, 2020.
A native of Smithfield, NC, she was the wife of Fred Lee Whitesell, who survives and the daughter of Charlie George and Mary Rochelle Lamb George, both deceased. She retired from Dixie Belle Fabrics and was a member of Guiding Light Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of their home, survivors include a daughter, Sandy Whitesell Hart of Gibsonville; three brothers, Clint George of Burlington, Robert Lee George of Hillsborough, and Billy Joe George of Mebane; three grandchildren, Chris Hart and wife Brandy, Crystal Dunn, and Nicholas Hart; three great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. Other times the family will be at 501 Wood Street, Gibsonville, NC.
