James William Shaw
LIBERTY - James William Shaw, 95, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, with Pastor Keith Edwards officiating; burial will be following the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 25, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
James was the son of the late Carl and Flossie Kime Shaw, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Whitesell Shaw; sisters, Donna Frye, Sara Young, Lucy Whitesell, Mary Lee Moore, Sandra Dodson, Ann Shaw; and brothers, Carl Shaw, Jr., and Lewis Shaw.
He is survived by his children, Wayne Shaw (Vicky), Linda Shaw (Roger Deese), and Kevin Shaw (Teresa); granddaughter, Ashley Peck (Kevin); greatgrandchildren, Alexa and Grayson; and brother, Tommy Shaw (Brenda).
James worked in hosiery mills for many years, but his true love was farming. He loved tending to his garden year after year and providing food for his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.

Peggy Whitesell Shaw
LIBERTY — Mrs. Peggy Whitesell Shaw , 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Duke Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and neighbor. She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Peggy was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook, and a caring member of the Mt. Pleasant community for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Emma Whitesell ; brother, Newman; and sisters, Nadine and Rena.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 62 years, James W. Shaw ; son, Wayne Shaw (Vicky) of Clarksville; daughter, Linda S. Shaw (Roger Deese) of Durham; son, Kevin L. Shaw (Teresa) of Graham; and granddaughter, Ashley Shaw Moore of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty.
