Bruce Clapp
WHITSETT — Mr. Bruce Clapp, 81, of Whitsett, died at Moses Cone Hospital on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10 p.m. following a brief illness.
A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Betty Jean Reece Clapp and the son of Grady William Clapp and Annie GenevaWagoner Clapp, both deceased. He was a farmer and owner of Clapp Fertilizer and Trucking Inc. He was a member of Brick Reformed United Church of Christ where he headed the restoration of the Old Brick Church. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Clapp Family Association.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Elvin Clapp and wife Kay of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Wendell Glenn Clapp of Whitsett; a grandson, Brian Clapp and wife Juliana Pearson of Alexandria, Va.; and four sisters, Elsie Bonds and husband the Rev. Bobby Bonds, Billie Fairman and husband David, Joan Clapp, and June Reece and husband Wayne.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Gilliam and Christine Fairman.
A memorial service will be conducted at Brick Reformed United Church of Christ on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Kristin Gerner Vaughn and the Rev. Bobby Bonds. A private graveside service will be held in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friendsattheOldBrickChurch on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
